Eighteen Sound 18LW2400

The Eighteen Sound 18LW2400 is an 18-inch low frequency speaker, designed for high SPL applications in subwoofers configured as reflex, bandpass or horn. Compared to the industry standard 18LW1400 , the 18LW2400 offers a higher maximum SPL, greater power management and lower Power Compression.

Transducer design features include a large suspension system which, a glass fiber reinforced cone and DSS - Double Silicon Spider technology owned by Eighteen Sound. All this allows an ultra-linear action of the piston and provides complete mechanical control over the entire range of use.

The 100 mm (4 ″) copper coil, based on the ISV - Interleaved Sandwich Voice Coil construction technology, offers high levels of thermal stability and durability. The 18LW2400 uses the same coil ventilation technology developed for the 9000 neodymium series.

In addition, the low distortion and the unmatched sound quality of the 18LW2400 are improved thanks to the double demodulating rings ( DDR - Double Demodulating Rings ) incorporated in the plate of the magnetic structure. In fact, these have been designed to reduce intermodulation distortion while improving transient response.

In addition, there is a 10% reduction in weight, obtained by optimizing the magnetic structure using advanced CAD simulation tools. Finally, the 18LW2400 is able to function properly in adverse weather conditions. This is due to the exclusive treatment that improves the resistance of the pulp and gives water-repellent properties on both sides of the cone. In addition, the special treatment applied to the polar plates is much more resistant to the corrosive effects of salts and oxidation.
