Eighteen Sound  18iD

The Eighteen Sound 18iD is a 18-inch subwoofer, high-performance neodymium magnet, standards-compliant technology  IPAL ® of Powersoft ™ . It is optimized for bass-reflex or band-pass loads. The parent company recommends the use of a class D or iPal ® amplifier that provides a program power of 3600 watts without clipping.

The transducer design includes a large suspension system, specifically designed to match the straight ribbed membrane, reinforced with composite fiber. Thanks to the TSS - Triple Silicon Spider technology , the Eighteen Sound 18iD is able to control the mass in motion with high linearity, showing exceptional stability of the mechanical values ​​in the long term.

The force factor Bl, like all the other electrodynamic parameters, is linear within the work area. This, together with the exceptional excursion of the cone makes the 21iD an extremely dynamic transducer with extremely low distortion. The 18iD is equipped with a sophisticated 5.3 ″ copper coil with ISV - Interleaved Sandwich Voice Coil technology which allows to obtain an extraordinary transient response.

Numerous simulations and fluid dynamics tests, mainly concentrated on the dissipation of the heat generated by the coil, have contributed to the development of this transducer. In addition, particular attention has been given to the optimization of the air flow in the space without introducing audible noises. An air diffuser in low density material acts as a cooling system, increasing the power management capacity and lowering the Power Compression .
