Description
Eighteen Sound ND3ST
The Eighteen Sound ND3ST neodymium compression driver with 1.4 ″ output is designed to guarantee state-of-the-art performance, necessary for present and future high quality sound reinforcement applications.
The membrane
The new generation titanium diaphragm is produced internally and guarantees unparalleled transient response. The coil is wound on a treated Nomex support. This material shows an elongation value with traction greater than 30% compared to Kapton (at an operating temperature of 200 ° C). In addition, this patented material is also suitable for use in environments with a high moisture content. In addition, the self-centering design of the diaphragm kit allows for high precision assembly and at the same time considerably simplifies the maintenance procedure.
The Magnet
The neodymium magnet assembly of the Eighteen Sound ND3ST generates a huge magnetic flux - even 21 KGauss inside the air gap - obtaining gigantic benefits in transient response. The motor structure, through the metal alloy power factor correction system designed precisely and coherently with 4 concentric grooves coupled to a copper ring, reduces inductance and distortion.
In addition, the ability to operate properly in adverse weather conditions is a key point of 18Sound's philosophy. Then, a special treatment is applied to the magnet and to the polar plates to make the driver more resistant to the corrosive effects of salts and oxidation. This treatment is more effective than any other commonly used coating.
